Fourteen including three security officers, killed in Mach

BOLAN: Rebel separatists Tuesday killed 14 people, including three security officers, after stopping vehicles at a fake checkpoint in Balochistan.

The attack happened in the Mach area of Bolan district, 70 kilometres (44 miles) southeast of the provincial capital Quetta. It appears to have targeted mostly people from the central province of Punjab ahead of Eidul-Fitr.

Nisar presents preliminary report on Ziarat attack in NA

ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Monday presented a preliminary report on the attack on Jinnah’s Ziarat residency in the National Assembly.

Speaking on the floor of the House, the interior minister said a joint investigation team had been constituted to investigate the attack on the building in which the Quaid-i-Azam spent the last days of his life in 1948.

The Balochistan Liberation Army claimed responsibility for the strike.

NO END TO BULLET-RIDDLED BODIES

QUETTA: Five bullet-riddled bodies were recovered in different parts of Balochistan on Sunday, June 9.According to levies sources, three bodies were found in Johan area of Kalat. They said that the dead bodies were almost one month old. The victims belonged to Bibi Nani area of Bolan district and they were kidnapped a month ago by armed gunmen.

Balochistan CM does away with secret fund

QUETTA: Announcing the abolition of secret funds in his address to the provincial assembly soon after taking oath as the 14th Chief Minister of Balochistan, Dr Abdul Malik Baloch on Sunday said he would rule with respect and prefer resignation to compromising on principles.

Polling stations targeted in Balochistan blasts; NP chief attacked

QUETTA: Within the past 24 hours, four attacks took place at different locations in Balochistan province which were designated as polling stations for the upcoming May 11 elections whereas the National Party Chief Dr Malik Baloch narrowly escaped unhurt in a hand-grenade attack on his vehicle in Turbat area on the province on Monday.

At least three passers-by were injured when the vehicle of Dr Baloch came under a hand grenade attack.

Day of mourning in Sindh today

KARACHI: True to their declared stance of keeping liberal democratic parties out of the election process, militants continued to mount pressure on MQM and PPP and attacked the election office of the former in Karachi and the office of a candidate of the latter in Nushki in Balochistan on Thursday.

The acts of terror claimed at least eight lives in Sindh and Balochistan, casting a pall of gloom over election activities across the country.

In Karachi, the MQM announced a day of mourning across Sindh on Friday. Traders said they would to keep their businesses shut and schools announced a day of closure and rescheduled some exams.

Grenade attack kills two children in Pasni

QUETTA: Two children were killed and a man sustained injuries on Wednesday, when unknown attackers hurled a hand grenade at a house in Balochistan province’s coastal town of Pasni, DawnNews reported.

Police confirmed the deaths in the grenade attack which took place at the centre of Pasni.

BA passes no-confidence motion against Aslam Bhootani,

 

QUETTA: The no-confidence motion against Speaker Balochistan Assembly Aslam Bhootani was passed by a majority, DawnNews reported.

Forty-seven votes were cast in support of the motion and against Bhootani and one in his favour.

The vote count was followed by a ruling by Deputy Speaker Syed Matiullah Agha stating that Bhootani was no longer the speaker of the provincial assembly.

After the passing of the motion, Balochistan Chief Minister Aslam Raisani said he could not rejoice over someone else’s misfortune.
